Bran Castle - Dracula's Castle of Transylvania!

Situated at 30 Km from Brasov, at the entrance to the Rucăr - Bran passage, between the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains, Bran Castle is an important national monument and landmark of the Romanian tourism, due not only to the beauty of the Castle and the landscape but also to the legend of Count Dracula. The first documentary attestation of the Bran Castle is the act issued on November 19, 1377, by Ludovic I D'Anjou giving the inhabitants of Brasov the privilege to build the Citadel "on their own work and expense".

Between 1920 and 1927, Bran Castle was restored and transformed into a beautiful summer residence, surrounded by a park, fountains, a lake, walking alleys, halt terraces and the "Tea House" of Queen Maria. Since 1956 the Castle was opened as a museum of history and feudal art.

Due to its lovely landscape and charming people, Bran-Moeciu is one of the most popular touristic areas in Brasov County and the ideal place to spend a great weekend or your holidays.

One can say that nature has been generous with this area because it is surrounded by the impressive silhouettes of the massifs Bucegi and Piatra Craiului, two of the most important elements in the Romanian mountainous touristic scenery. The landscape from this area is a harmonious mixture of different landforms (high mountains, plateaus, the curvy shapes carved by the rivers along their banks and the valleys that cross the land, shaped by the rich hydrographic network).

The region has sparked a series of historical episodes, from prehistoric days until current times, all due to one major geographical and historical factor: the Bran Gorge.
