Via ferrata in Transylvania

Adrenaline release and stunning views

If you like to travel in the mountains & love hiking, but would also like to visit steeper areas, via ferrata are ideal adventures.

Breathtaking views both everywhere you look: a via ferrata takes you along the wire cable to magnificent heights!

The program offers various routes, available for beginners and for experienced climbers.

Day 1. We leave Bucharest for Transylvania. The route crosses the Carpathians, then stretches between the Transylvanian hills. Varghis Gorge, a beautiful paradise is formed in limestone and hides over 120 caves where a variety of bath species are living. We follow the path in the gorge for one hour, crossing the river several times. The via ferrata route from the gorge is C graded (medium) and takes about one hour to be done. Return from the end of via ferrata on the marked trail at the beginning of the gorge.

Overnight in Szekely land, a region with wild mountain landscapes, pristine lakes and secluded valleys with quaint villages tucked into the folds of earth. The rural pension offers a good opportunity to enjoy the local food and the famous palinka (strong brandy).

Day 2. Trekking to Harghita mountaintop at 1800m and a via ferrata (B/C graded) route reserved for today.

Overnight at Lacu Rosu resort, deep in the mountains, a good retreat for those seeking relaxation and rest.

Day 3. The steep mountain that overlooks the Red Lake represents our destination for the most attractive via ferrata route included in this program. We climb it for almost one hour; the most difficult part, close to the peak (D graded) has few rock grips and a mobile footbridge; breathtaking views from the top, over the surrounding mountains.
