Romania on a platter: The new Romanian cuisine you need to experience

11-Dec-2019
Bucharest, Romania (CNN) — In Romania, food isn't served merely to temper hunger and delight the palate but to teach visitors something about a culture they may not know well.
While the trend is strongest in Bucharest, it's not exclusive to the capital. Sibiu, Brașov and other cities are quickly following suit.
At the confluence of Southeastern Europe, bordered by the Black Sea and blessed by the beautiful Carpathian Mountains, Romania takes advantage of its abundant agrarian origins and flaunts seasonal ingredients in show-stopping dishes.
The region of Sibiu is located in Southern Transylvania, a unique cultural and natural scenery. The Region includes the city of Sibiu and its surroundings, standing out through its exceptional heritage and traditions carried on by a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural community. A former European Capital of Culture, Sibiu has since focused on its vivid cultural life, also developing its touristic profile. Alongside its other valuable assets, traditions had an important role in shaping Sibiu as a viable touristic destination, food culture being one of the main attractions of the Region.
